We have two exciting upcoming art competitions to share with you.
The first is organised by the National Portrait Gallery of Australia:

This competition invites all school students in Australia to create a portrait of someone they believe deserves recognition in their community. The deadline is September 14, and selected artworks will be officially unveiled by the Governor-General.
Since children are usually most familiar with their family members, we will soon begin a “Family member Portrait” project in class. Even if the piece isn’t entered into the competition, it will still make a meaningful keepsake for your family.
To get started, we kindly ask parents and students to choose three photos of the person your child would like to draw and send them to me. I’ll help select the most suitable one and print it out for the child to work from.
大家早上好，最近会有两个比较有意思的绘画比赛，第一个是澳洲国家肖像美术馆举办的，链接如下：
邀请澳洲所有在校学生为他们觉得社区里最值得认可的人创作一幅肖像，截止日期为9月14号，入选作品会由联邦总督正式揭幕。一般对于孩子来说最熟悉人的还是家庭成员，所以我们最近会做一个家人肖像主题创作，这个作品后面即使不参赛对于家庭也是一个很好的纪念。需要家长和学生一起选择三张自己想画的人物照片发给我，我会选择一张最合适的打印出来给孩子画。

This competition has no specific theme, and the deadline is September 30. Any previously completed high-quality work can be submitted online. In past years, portraits have made up a significant portion of the winning entries.
The competition is based in Melbourne, and last year, one of our students won an award and was invited to attend the presentation ceremony, which I also had the pleasure of attending. The gala dinner was one of the most formal and memorable art events I’ve ever experienced. Winning students and their families are invited to the event—it’s truly a special occasion.

这个比赛没有主题，截止日期9月30号，所有之前认为画的好的作品都可以线上参与。往年获奖作品中人物占的比重很大。这个比赛的主办方就在墨尔本，去年我们画室有学生获奖参加了颁奖典礼，我自己也去了。这个颁奖晚宴是我参加过的艺术活动里非常正式的一个，一旦获奖家庭成员会一起被邀请参加晚宴，会是一个非常难得的经历。

This is a prestigious national competition for young artists in Australia, and the awards ceremony is sometimes even covered by the media.
When choosing photos, please try to pick ones that are expressive, taken from an interesting angle, or that tell a strong story. Judges aren’t focused on how attractive or well-known the subject is—the most important thing is the strength and emotion of the final artwork. It’s best if the person is someone living in Australia. The photo can feature a family member, friend, or teacher, either individually or with others. Ideally, the expression should be lively, and the face should be clear and high-resolution.

大家选照片的时候记得尽量选一些表情生动 角度特别 或者故事性强一些的，评委不会在意这个人是谁长得好看不好看，关键还是在于画面好不好。人最好生活在澳洲的，可以是家人单独照片，也可以是朋友老师，表情丰富一点，脸部像素高一点清楚一点。
